More than 40 years in the business

Dan Kamburoff was the last farmer in the city of Kent, Ohio.

He raised vegetables and sweet corn, which he sold at their farm market on Fairchild Avenue. While in Portage County, he was active in the Farm Bureau and served as county president. He also was a Kent City Councilman. Because all of the farm land around him was changing, he decided to move his family to a farm just south of Ashland, Ohio.

In 2002, while visiting the Farm Science Review with his wife, Julia, he stopped to talk to Bob Webb, an old friend and supplier of the irrigation equipment he needed over the years. Bob mentioned that he had been considering retiring after 40 years in the irrigation business, and asked Dan if he would consider taking over and buying the business.

With the practical experience with irrigation systems that Dan had obtained over the years, it was a natural. A deal was struck, and Dan soon relocated the business at his farm south of Ashland, in the shop he had just built to restore two-cylinder John Deere tractors.

Dan's territory now includes all of Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and New York. Dan carries equipment and supplies from micro-sprinklers to the largest travelers, drip tape to the largest water guns, 5 h.p. transfer pumps to 100 h.p. PTO pumps, and everything in between.

What is Columbus Irrigation's Shipping Policy?

Most off- the- shelf orders are shipped the same day if received by 4 P.M. (ish)
We ship daily with UPS
We ship daily using the USPS
We usually use R&L Freight Carriers for pallet sized orders
We ship using are own truck (and trailer)
Customer pick-up, at our new shop and warehouse, is always available with additional hours to help with the customers’ schedule
Most orders can be direct shipped from the manufacturer if not stocked
All orders are FOB, point of shipping
Frost season is basically 24/7
Most regular UPS deliveries are next day for Ohio and into the contiguous states surrounding Ohio.
USPS works great for lighter shipments, is about 1/2 the price of UPS but is 1 day longer (pre Covid) than UPS
No one likes emergencies but we can deal with them.
We’ve rolled out of the shop at midnight with a truckload of aluminum pipe to be at a customer’s farm at 2:30 in the morning to save his strawberry field from frost. (No extra charge for the odd-time delivery)
A construction company called at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon. They needed 2 big gun sprinklers, and big tripods, and pipe to feed it. They had gotten the last 4 we had in stock earlier in the week. We delivered the pipe yet that day. The big gun sprinklers from Nebraska and the big tripods from Spokane, Washington were delivered by 10:30 Saturday morning.
